My answer is: a.


H1 does not make up the nucleosome "bead". Instead, it sits on top of the structure, keeping in place the DNA that has wrapped around the nucleosome.

The core histones are: H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. H1 functions as a "cap" and is not included in the core.
