meduploader - 05-07-09 14:10
A 17-year-old male student came to the school infirmary because of fever and lightheadedness. The nurse could not detect a blood pressure and called an ambulance.
Physical examination in the emergency department discloses that the patient has several petechiae on his arms and legs. Blood pressure is 81/55 mm Hg after administration of 1 liter of intravenous saline. He is awake and communicative but has difficulty focusing his attention. His neck is supple.
In addition to continuing intravenous fluids and administering antibiotics, which of the following should also be given during this patient’s first 24 hours of therapy?
