About Externships??

Dear Adonis, I'm an old IMG ( >10years) and I want to apply for FM or psychiatry, since they are RELATIVELY less competative, so what is the desired USCE, I means if I get lucky and got 2 month externship in FM then 2 month in psychiatry, is that enough, or I should focus only on one and spend more time and leave the other.
Also now its May, so if I start now , I can't complete more than 3 or 4 months before September, when the PDs start to download applications.
Does it count if you continue doing externships and observerships beyound September or October?
your advice pls.

Do whatever u can get.Be it FM or Psych.If u r able to complete 4 months before September then that wud be really good.Regarding the question whether the observerships/externships beyond September count or not I have to say that once u submit the CAF thro' ERAS in september u cannot edit it later on.So, u will not be able to add any experience u acquire afterwards into yur ERAS CV and CAF.
However, it is better to continue doing observerships/externships afterwards as well.This because during Interviews they may ask u about what u r doing presently.
