hi i want to ask tht if a perso does residency in family med can he become gynaecologist or only the people doing residency in obsgynae can become gynaecologist my other question is i read on this forum tht a person doing residency in fm can not become gastroenteroligist so people doing residency in family med in which fields they can do fellowship

FM people can pursue six months to two year advanced training in Obstetrics,Sports Medicine,Geriatrics,etc.
So, FM people can practice Obstetrics by doing one year training in Obstetrics but those who do residency in Obs & Gynec do a three year training.

bluesea - 06-06-11 23:10 thanku so much for ur reply i realy have interest in gynaecological oncology so people who do family med can tke gynaecological oncology as their subspecialy or only people wth doing obs and gynae residency can do gynae onco as their subspeciality

U can't do Gynecologic Oncologic fellowship after an FM residency.
