Re:About LORs..
bingousmle - 06-29-10 14:17 the LOR need not be addressed to a particular person, rather it can start with dear program director and it has to include your AAMC ID as well.. are u applying this season?

Re: About LORs..
bingousmle - 06-30-10 01:59 AAMC ID is the unique number which you will be alloted when you pay the fees for the ERAS token, which is i think 90 USD. its not the same as your ECFMG number

Re: About LORs..
bingousmle - 06-30-10 16:44 yeah you ll get the aamc id once you buy the token. you also need to submit a document submission form along with the LOR. you can keep a letter just in case, but i dont think you need to show it to anyone while the interview season

Here r the details about writing an LOR:

Compare the student with others that you have known.
Share stories that illustrate the student's qualities.
Potential topics: student's potential, professionalism, interpersonal & leadership skills, passion for medicine, etc.
Don't reiterate the student's CV line for line.
Write on official letterhead.
Proofread your letter 'especially the student's' name.
Opening : It shud be addressed to a program director as, Dear Program Director.
Student name and AAMC ID# shud be included.
LOR writer shud indicate the nature and length of his/her relationship.
Body : use specific examples.
Closing : reiterate the strength of your overall recommendation.

what is an aamc id?
what is an aamc id?

AAMC ID is different from an ECFMG ID.
One can get an AAMC ID only after buying an ERAS token from the ECFMG webpage.
Good Luck!
