Dear fellows,
When I checked the NRMP directory for programs, I saw how many spots they have, so if the program has only 3 spots, while on FREIDA it has 10, so did they give the rest as prematch already? Is this No. for this year or last year?

Here is how u can get an idea of how many prematches does a particular program offer:
1) Go to FREIDA and look at how many positions a program offers (or find it on their website).
2) Go to http://www.nrmp.org/data/programresults2005-2009.pdf ,
which is the NRMP data about how many people matched there last year and in previous years.
("Quota" is the number the program sends to match as available positions. And "matched" is the number that actually matched into that program).
3)The difference in these two numbers is how many pre-matches were offered by that program.
[Please note that this does not take into account the number who matched thro' Osteopathic Match. So,one needs to look at how many of the first year residents are graduates of Osteopathic Schools.]
The info presently on the NRMP website is for the previous year and will be soon updated for this year.

U can also find the no. of approved positions in a program from the link:
http://www.acgme.org/adspublic/
Search for the program, it'll list how many approved spots are available.
If the quota is less than the approved spots, it means someone prematched, program holding that spot for someone who didn't make it to the next year or the hospital couldn't secure funding.
The date for programs to update their quotas is 31st January.
