Dear Doctok:
I have a question about taking Step 2 CK in August. I am 4th year medical student, and i am an IMG, and got a 99 on step 1, and wanted to take sometime to study for step 2 CK. How important is it to have Step 2 CK scores by September 1st. What is more important, send it earlier, or take it by late August and get a better score and send it few weeks later ?
Responses are greatly appreciated, please help me out.

If u cud send the high Sep-2CK score by September 1st then that wud have been the ideal situation.However, if it is not possible to do so then don't compromise on a high Step-2CK score.It is very problematic to get a low score on the USMLE steps.
Thus, get a high score n send it a few weeks later.

My other question guess would be: is it wise to delay step 2 if I was trying to get a 250 as opposed to a 230 ? I am trying to do ER and I am an IMG , so I know it's pretty tough. Any ideas ? Get 250!
The higher u get the better it is for u!Don't miss on a high score.

I would still send my application on September 1st to include my step 1 score and Step 2 CS passing grade, and then just forward my step 2 CK to them after it comes out, right ?

You've been of great help, I really do appreciate you taking your time to answer those questions, I will follow your advice. I finish my Internal Medicine rotation by the end of July, I will take off three weeks to get extra study for Step 2 CK then take it towards the end of August. Thanks again for everything
