hey i need help...cn ny1 pls guide me...i hav a 97 n an 85 on step 1 n step 2 ck n i failed cs:( im so derpessed,,cn ny 1 guide me...shud i still be applyin im gona try take my cs before the 12th of sept...im in sucha big mess,,i dunno wht to do...shud i apply next yr?? till wht time cn yu keep sendin stuff to eras services...do they close down on sep 1st?? i've a shadowin opportunity in line fr me bt thts with a private practitioner?? shud i go ahead with it now??? i failed on the cis section n dunno wht n whr to improve ??? i feel tht i wasn confident durin the exam n ma tone ws vry humble...i did very good on the ice n sep bt professional manner n rapport buildin screwed me...questinonin abilities n info sharin ws borderline too...i dunno i feel tht i ws able to communicate very welll...kindly guide me as to wht shud i be doin nw i hv already applied fr cs again...bt wht bout applyin this yr ?? i find myself helpless n ignorant at this point

I m so sorry to hear about it!
But never lose hope and keep yur end up inspite of all what happened!
Always simple words and use short sentences.Never use any medical jargon.Be slow and loud while speaking and always listen carefully to what an SP is saying.Repeat what the SP has just said and write on the scrap paper only when u r repeating what the SP has just said.Be respectful to the SPs.U shud look confident during the exam.
If u can take the Step-2CS exam anytime before 31st December, u can participate in the Match if u pass the exam.
The application cycle does not end on September 1st at all.It is the starting date of the application.U can theortically apply until March next year.But it is always best as early as possible because it is a competition process.
Practice all this with a live practice partner.
U can also shadow the private practioner because it is better than doing nothing.But in my opinion u shud seiously first try to pass the Step-2CS exam.
Step-2CS failure does have a substantial effect on an applicant's chances of getting into a residency prog,more so in a competitive specaialty like IM,etc.Another failure,God forbid, may prove disastrous.So take yur time and prepare well this time.
U can even take help by joining some courses like Step-2CS review course run by Douglos Lieth in New Jersey.In that u can practice with the live SPs .But this is only a suggestion.
