hi guys ,
i had previously mailed you asking about my chances of making it to a residency with scrs of 88 in both the steps. now my step 3 scr is 91/217. so i have completed all the steps .
i have two months clinical experience under american doctors in the dept of family med and 9 months research experience in a teaching institution in the dept of neonatology . i had one interview this year and they have ranked me but not confident about matching. this is my current status in brief
i am interested in IM,PED and FM. kindly help me , how to go along to make it in 2012 match

U have got a good Step-3 score.Did u forward it to the programs?
Had u applied to enough FM programs?If so then why did u get only one interview.
As u have a significant FM experience, so it wud be good for u to apply to a good number of FM programs and there is every possibility of yur matching into an FM program.
About matching into IM and Peds u do stand a chance but yur FM clinical experience may become an obstacle due to the fact that both the IM and Peds programs will doubt yur interest in these two specialties.

wilfred - 03-08-11 21:11 no i didnt forward the score to the programs , because the result came after the ranking had ended. if i do one or two months of externship in IM and PEDS will my chances increase??? my doubt is will my step 1 and step 2 scrs still be the deciding factor

Yur Step-3 score is really going to help u.
Yes, do a few months of externships in IM/Peds and get US LORs.
Yes, Step-1 and Step-2 scores r important but at yur scores(> 85) u will able to apply to a lot of programs which can then consider yur application.

Hi, can u please tell me how many programs u applied to? And, whether or not you hit them all on sept 1st? Your Year of grad and your visa status. I am asking all this because I did not match last season and I am trying to keep myself well informed about the do's and dont's for this year.
