InSitu - 02-21-08 22:15 With fax and email (specially email) you can reach most of the programs but using all three is the best way to go about it.

Re: advice please !
InSitu - 02-21-08 22:17 Do not forget that you also qualify to send up to 30 ERAS applications on scramble day but 30 application will not be enough to cover all uunfilled programs and thats why you must fax and email.

fancyface - 02-22-08 11:57 The scramble services that you used were helpful or not ? did you get into a program ?

Re: advice please !
InSitu - 02-22-08 12:15 Scramle services are not services that has connection and guaranteed way into residency, they are simply a fax and email submission service. Want to fax and email then you have it. The benfit of a service is that it provides you with fast submission allowing you to concerntrate on the phone calls and ERAS submission. Its impossible to do all four tasks (ERAS, phone, fax and calls) together without compromising the time. Speed matters on scramble day...the faster you reach the program the better your chances.

Re: advice please !
InSitu - 02-22-08 12:18 On scramble day yo umust be ware that the submission starts at 12:00pm ET. Make sure that you do not send more than a cover page. NRMP asks you not to flood program with unsolicited application. A cover page and an online access to rest of documents is the way to go.

Re: advice please !
radhamesramos - 02-22-08 16:18 InSitu is right. Scramble sevices are a good way to help, but it is not guaranteed, and you must do your share too. I used two last year: one was a scam, I just found out later, nad the other was Electronicresidency.com which I found very honest and organized. I didn't get in, but it was because last year, competition in surgery was really though, as it is every year
Good luck!

mindswapper - 02-23-08 06:20 Using a Scramble service and getting into a residency program are two different issues!
If u use a service, it will help u and give u an advantage BUT it is not a guaranteed means to get a residency spot.

Re: advice please !
radhamesramos - 02-23-08 17:52 It is the best in terms of what you get for your dollars... I remember I still was applying through June with the same amount I purchased in February. The system allows the flexibility to apply to a lot of programs after scramble season is over, but positions are supposed to be left (According to the NRMP list of unfilled positions).
So, if you need a service, I recommend Electronicresidency.com (not advertising, I don't have any ties with this institution), and of course, remember you should o your share too, and that nothing is guaranteed
