hi helpful! i just want 2 aske if i pass all the exams of step 1 and2 can i get the residency in surgery, coz i heard that it is exclusive for the americans or at least it is difficult for forigner, even with more than 90 score, and i am shocked since that
so plz what is the truth ! are the all equal ?

Re: after uslme TheOne - 06-09-08 19:50 That's 80% true, everyone is equal here, though getting into surgery is very hard.. very very hard.. But NOT impossible.
I personaly know a friend who just get into a categorical General Surgery program here in Arizona, he's a FMG but his trick was 2 years of research in the same institute. Oh and he had double 99's on both Steps 1 & 2 CK.

Re: after uslme radhamesramos - 06-10-08 11:30 I even know guys with lesser scores to get surgery, the trick is patience, patience to apply to someplace for rotations, and then getting an interview, plus you get a preliminary, not categorical position right away, so there you need patience to enter preliminary and then try to get categorical, patience and a lot of hard work

even people whom i know who got prelims were double 99.

Re: after uslme hrudaya - 06-17-08 10:27 i agree that we are all equal but honestly if you compare profile, american grads usually fare better, majority would have done some kind of genuine research work which is very difficult in case of IMG from developing world
