Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) also elevated in Alcohol abuse, Mononucleosis, Kidney or lung damage, heart attack or heart failure.

i used this way to memorise it may be u like it , VirAlkaline (mean viral infection leads to alkaline phosphatase elevation) and other one is elevated in alcohol and we need to memorize only one ,the other one is the other one According to Dr Goljan ;)

The ratio of the AST:ALT of 2:1 suggests alcohol as a cause. Abstaining from alcohol and repeating the tests can be done to see if the levels normalize.
