What is the determinant clinical sign to suspect the diagnosis of aortic oarctation :
a- poorly felt femoral pulse
b- dyspnea on exertion
c- Difference in the arterial pulsation between radial and femoral artery
d- cyanosis of the extremities

yehia1982 - 10-28-08 14:06 all choices may be present in case of aortic coarctation , but pulse difference between radial and femoral artery is the highest suspictable between them for the case of carctation of aorta , so c is true

sackatdoc - 10-28-08 16:48 yes!XO,bicuspid aorta and coarctation in short stature, infertile, MR, widely spaced nipples and streaked ovaries,low set ears, name is just not comming in my mind

bingousmle - 10-28-08 17:06 Preductal coarctation: The narrowing is proximal to the ductus arteriosus. If severe, blood flow to the aorta distal to the narrowing (supplying lower body) is dependent on a patent ductus arteriosus, and hence its closure can be life-threatening. Preductal coarctation results when an intracardiac anomaly during fetal life decreases blood flow through the left side of the heart, leading to hypoplastic development of the aorta. This is the type often seen in infants with Turner Syndrome

i dont think bicuspid aorta can be a cause though it is known to occur in some cases of turners .. will have to look up though for details
