A 22-year-old woman presents to your office with a moveable 1-cm mass in the right upper outer quadrant. She states that the mass becomes tender as her menstrual cycle progresses, and then the pain resolves after cessation of her menstrual flow. A fine needle aspiration reveals a solid mass. A specimen is submitted for cytology. The report is pending
a.fibroadenoma
b.intraductal carcinoma
c.comedeocarcinoma
d.lobular carcinoma

you are right.its fibroadenoma which shows corelation with changes in estrogen levels during mensural cycles

is there a differrence between fibroadenama and fibroadenosis? i am not very clear about the two terms

classic presentation of breast fibroadenoma ca chances are less in this age group mass is movable and comes and goes i.e fibroadenoma fibroadenosis is immovable localised fibroadenoma is called as breast mice

fibroadenoma ! fibroadenosis
lesscommon ! more common
unilateral ! usualy bilateral
well defined,firm,mobile ! irregular,ill defined,tender lump
well defined capsule ! no capsule
no discharge ! serous or green coloured discharge
very rarely-sarcomatous change ! carcinoma if epitheliosis is present

fibroadenoma is usully seen in the reproductive age group .....and it would bring about changes during menstrual cycles......

clinically the ca has roughened margins n is firm n not really mobile.
whereas vn u palpate fibroadenoma....it;s firm but very mobile...rightly called breast mouse.n of course the association vd menstrual cycle changes.
