For getting into a residency u need to take various USMLE Steps and score high on them.In order to get into a residency one needs to take these three USMLE Steps viz. USMLE Steps-1,2CK,2CS.

For application purposes u need to visit the website www.ecfmg.org .
In order to be eligible to apply for a USMLE Step u need to have completed the first two years of yur medical school and yur medical school must be enlisted in the IMED(International Medical Education Directory) of FAIMER .
