clinical research

I am interviewing for a clinical research associate position in anesthesia and pain medicine. My concern is if i get this job how will it even help or look good when im applying for family or internal medicine for 2009 or somehow manage to get a spot in this years scramble? I worked this year as a orthopedic surgical assistant, basically these jobs are ways to fill the time and earn money..
and on top of that i got no interviews this past year i guess due to multiple attempts on the USMLE!
any advice would be appreciated!

Any US experience would help. Consistency and "No Gabs" in your resume would help. If you havn't passed Step 3 then try to do that.
Other than that.. Keep your fingers twisted and hope for the best.
Good luck.

By contacting researchers in different med schools or programs, researchs are almostly unpaid.

But you can get paid ones (most of the time after you did a couple of unpaid ones), some sponsor visas even if unpaid.

the subject and what so ever your responsibility in reaserch is, it is not the key issue. The most important or I should say the A to Z is that if you show them how hard working and collegial you are . Believe me they are not after only knowledg but mostly after how you function as a person and collegs. I am speaking from exprienc.good luck to all.

Specific criteria there are none, that is up to the University, sometimes you have to have passed the exams, other times you need somebody inside, get into the OHSU webpage for research positions, or see if you know somebody at Univ of Miami, these I know are always recruiting...Univ. of Miami has an advantage that they can consider a lot for residency position for the year or two years after, but you must work a lot there. Although these positions are gotten via sombody you know inside there
