Hi everyone,
I just called the FSMB and talked to a nice representitve, asked her about my step 3 scores and for how long are they valid and here's her answer:
"The FSMB has one rule which states that you must pass all your Steps, including Step 3, in the period of 7 years from the first test. For example, if you passed your Step 1 test in 2000 the FSMB may ask you to repeat the tests in order to meet the Medical Boards requirement".
In my case, she confirmed I have no problems since I passed all my tests within 1 year period.

Step 3 is Valid (FSMB) doctor1 - 03-21-08 11:41 congrats on your step3 i guess thats a big hurdle especially for imgs and regaarding the rule about expiring of the steps supposing if I have taken step1 in 2000 i need to take step3 by the end of 2007 , othetrwise it expires is that true?? what about the ecfmg certificate

I've already cleared Step 3 in Jan. 2007 but thanx anyway. And yes, it's now recommended by almost all who I know and meet to pass Step 3 before getting into residency.
Yes, if there's a 7 years gap between your first test and Step 3, the FSMB "MAY" ask you to repeat that test.. At least, that's what the FSMB representitive told me.
Remember that every State have their own rules and regulation concerning the time period for passing the Steps which you can check on the FSMB website.

Step 3 is Valid (FSMB) utterker - 04-16-08 15:09 if i apply for step 3 in the second half of april when does my eligibility period start? is it 2 wks after the application has been submitted as it takes them 2 wks to process my application? i want to take the exam in august last week. it is ok to apply now or do i need to wait for one more month to apply?

And your eleigibilty period starts from the day your aplication is approved, check the fsmb.org site under your personla account info.
