depends which country are you applying,questions are to establish your ties with the country and find out if you will be able to support yourself while in US, also they will try and find out whether you have relatives or sponsors in US, you have to be really confident and sure of your self while being interviewed, lots and lots of good luck.

not entirely clear on this, whether they ask for sponsor purpose or they have something else in their minds, coz I got interviewed twice in two different countries and I was asked the same question but I gave different answers both the times, last was I dont have and that IV ended up in an VISA, so cant answer that part.

no not through portal ....directly from harvard site.....
