deadline for examinations

Dear friends in Doctok
I have 2 questions:
1-I have passed my first exam which was USMLE step 2CK in 2006 then step 1 in 2007 and both in Dubai, UAE,
I have visa problem to enter to US then till what time I will have time to pass step 2CS to be certified? till 2006+7=2013 or more than that?
2-suppose that I can come to US and pass step 2CS till the next year then till what time can I enter the match , I mean that:
Is the validity of ECFMG certification lifelong to enter a residency position? Can I finish residency in my country that may take 5-6 years from now and after that again try to enter the match in the US after 7 years?
thanks a lot for your help
Sincerely yours
Dr.Sajjadieh

InSitu - 02-09-08 11:59 1. You have 7 years to pass all 3 tests. thats correct.
2. Yes you can wait to start residency later, but the sooner you apply for residency the better your chances. Long wait will hurt your application.
