Do I Stand Any Chance of Matching?

Hello,
I am an IMG. Graduated in 2010. Applied 2x for the match and failed to match on both attempts. I have passed all my steps..but my grades are just low passes. I have done 1yr of clinical rotations in the US and I am currently in my home country doin a year of internship (medical intern workin in Medicine, surgery, OB/GYN, and peds).
I want to apply again this year, but need someone’s honest opinion on my chances. Would anyone even look at me..or will i just be filtered out with no one even lookin at my application..
I will like to specialize as my country does not offer this option.
Please your advice is appreciated..
Thanks!!!

Hi sorry about not including it:

Scores:
step1 204/84
step 2 187/76
step 3 191/77

I'm interested in internal med but will also be applying to family med.

I passed all my steps on my first attempt.

I have 4 LORs form the US and 2 from the UK( I did a year of my clinical rotations in the UK.

Thank you for your time and ure help.

IM may be difficult for u to get into coz of yur low USMLE scores but u can get into FM,Psych if u demonstrate yur interest in these two specialties thro' yur PS and if yur experiences support yur claim.
Yur LORs will great support yur application.
BTW, which specialties do u have experience in?

Best Wishes!

Hi there, thanks for the info.. I have done clinical rotations in family med., internal med. And several IM subspecialities.. Neuro., heme/onc, RICU, nephro., rheumatology. All done in the US.. I know that family med may be the only option for mr now, but I have applied in the past to family med. With no interviews..
How can I get there attention? I
know programs have filter systems that filter out grades lower that what they want.. Will they even look at my PS?
Will my internship experience be of any help to me in applying for internal med?I've worked in all core areas, surgery, medicine, gyn/ob, peds..

Thank you again..

R these clinical attachments(observerships) or clinical clerckships (rotations) which u have done?Where have u done them?
Wat type of clinical training did u do in the UK?
Internship is usually done by all the MBBS students so won't make any big difference.
Which country r u doing yur internship in?
Where have done yur MBBS from?

Best Wishes!

ok..
all mentioned above were clinical rotations I did as a medical student..rotations both in the UK and US.. I actually have an MD from SGU..but my country allows me to do my internship with passes in My steps..especially step 3..
I didn't bother answering this before because I figured that these facts will not drastically change my outcome..it actually seem to go against me.. but i just thought u cud give me helpful hints as to how to draw attention to my application..for someone to consider me..
thanks anyway!!

Yur Clinical rotations in the US and UK will definitely be of great help. They r a part of yur medical education n make u someone having US n UK Clinical esperience at the under-graduate level .LORs from these experiences shud really help u.
U will really get into the notice of the interviewing committees at residency programs if u get thro' the initial ERAS Score Filters.
Residency PDs really love to see someone with US/UK or a clinical experience in the western set-up.

BTW, to which country do u belong?

Best Wishes!
