Any service that promotes for a paid externship is somewhat red-flagged. So you need to be careful.
That's what I get from your question and if you want to hae better replies then just try to be more clear and specific about it, thanks!

Anyways, even if he is serious, doing an externship under a particular doctor is not taken very seriously by the PDs

Not, that is not completely helpful, it would help you more than getting nothing, but it is seen more seriously to go to an actual department in a hospital with an ongoing program, that is considered more a USCE than going to some specialist's office. Of course, if he takes you to the hospital, gets you in rounds, grand rounds, M and Ms, and makes you interact with faculty and staff, wven if you cannot touch a patient, that is considered USCE. See what he offers you, if not try to get a real program

hey sowmyanmanju , sorry for the delay in replying , for the money that is required to be paid you might get better clinical experience and a letter of recommendation, y dont you try to get it in programs , even a couple of months of observing in medicine wards in a family med program can help u land in an im residency

I agree with Doctor1. If they charge you, better get into a paid observership in a hospital that has an ongoing program. Your money will be safer and PDs will consider it a more valid experience

I hope you are doing Ok from your GBS, and that you can join an observerhip as soon as possible. At this time, obsies applications take longer to be processed, and the waiting list can be long, but do try to get something before Sept. Actually you can apply on Sep 1 and start the observership later, since you can update your application anytime you want. Also, if you are expecting to get into one by the time the interviews are beign conducted, you just put it in your application, and write the dates you are expected to start. If you cannot get any obsie with a program, go with Dr. Rao, at least you'll get a nice LOR

take care of ur health and one bit of advice, donot forget to talk about ur gbs during ur interviews though , bring it up casually , its a way to keep a healthy conversation flowing, just letting them get a feel about the kind of perso;n they might have to work with in future.
