d-dimer is elevated in most patents but is not specific...
doppler usg is useful.......
ascending contrast venography is the best method i guess.....
ipg.....

impedence plethysmography (ipg) accurately detects above knee thrombi.....radiofibrinogen method is very accurate in calf vein n lower thigh thrombi.....

diorders with hypercoaguble states.......low cardiac output.....dehydration,polycythemia,prolonged bed rest,postpartum period,,,etc..

bed rest and elevation of limbs,heparin injection,inferior vena caval filters can be inserted percutaneously via femoral vein in patients where in lytic therapy is contraindicated...
