i am a foreign medical graduate currently preparing for my step 1 exams n i am a US citizen., i would like to know about my options other than residency programs which i can get with these scores. various other opportunities in the health field .. thank you

USMLE scores help an applicant only in securing residency spots in the US.
Yes, there r USMLE test-takers who did not get into a residency and thus joined research or r working as lab technicians or physician assistants.If anyone wants to get such jobs it is not essential for him/her to pass the USMLE Steps coz' it wud be good for him/her to do some courses of study related to such fields.

guruashu - 10-12-11 13:19 i just got to know that you can do MPH ( masters in public health ) after passing usmle if you don't get residency and then ... it can be a proven road for family medicine in the united states... hope that helps ...!!

USMLE is not any pre-requisite for getting into an MPH program.That can be done even without taking USMLE.
