ERAS Use During the Scramble Period

From 12 noon Eastern Time on Tuesday until 12 noon Eastern Time on the Thursday during Match Week in March each year, there is a "Scramble" period just before the NRMP Match Day results are released. During this period, applicants who did not match to a position attempt to fill remaining unfilled positions.

ERAS is available to applicants to apply to a maximum of forty-five (45) programs free of charge. Thirty (30) of those programs can be new programs and fifteen (15) can be programs to which the applicant has applied during the ERAS season. The applicant must meet the following criteria:

1) Must have participated in ERAS during the regular season. This means you must have applied to (and paid for) at least one program.
2) Account must be paid in full no less than two weeks prior to the Scramble period.

And just to add, The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) recently announced an increase in the number of unfilled positions to which participants in the Post-Match Scramble may apply using ERAS.

This information has just been emailed to all candidates. So for all of you who had problems with few or no interviews, here's a good chance.

Good luck.

Syed12, if a program is unfilled in the 2-day scramble you can reapply the same way you applied during the regular season.
Just contact the program, preferbly by phone, show your interest and ask them if your credentials match their criteria then apply through ERAS. The number 45 is posted by AAMC, and it's simply divided into 30-15 which means 30 (new) and 15 (old) and by "old" I mean "unfilled programs on the scramble that you've applied to during the regular season".

I hope I answered your question doctor1 and btw, AAMC already knows the stats about the Match, so don't be surprised..

i want to clear this, coz last yr the program i already applied ,just asked my AAMC I.D number to pull my application out of their system durung the scramble,so WHat this Reapplying to 15 programs mean,

It's simply to make sure that these programs do have your documents, in case they discard it during the season or their system may automaticlly remove all non-interviewed & non-matched applicant from their mainframe.
