docbul - 03-18-10 13:43 83/87/cs passed ist attempt..USCE- 3 months IM, 15 days FM...Ongoing Clinical Research( 6 months) no publications yet...3 years of Work exp in Home country plus 2 internships. grad in 2004,applied to 80 IM,20 Fm ,had 4 Ivs in Im and 1 in FM (got CS result in feb).i matched to FM program..I hope i answered all questions..n howz FM residency? is it worth doing or not..

Do u need a visa?
Ye, these days even FM residency is somewhat hard to get into.
In FM residency u will be exposed to pediatrics,medicine,gynae & obs ,geriatrics ,minor surgery,etc.So, u will have a chance to be an all-round doctor.U can even go for further one year training into geriatrics,obstetrics,sports medicine,etc.
If anyone still desires to go for an IM residency after an FM residency then he/she may get a year of credit in an IM residency and can join as a second year IM resident.But, this is not so easy as it seems.For this one needs to find an IM program which is ready to take u.
