mohhaider - 10-12-08 12:08 Neuraminidase inhibitors like oseltamivir and zanamivir are used for both treatment and prophylaxis of influenza type A and B.Amantadidine is used although limited effect for treatment of influenza tye A.
Infuenza vaccine is given to health care workers ,elderly ,immunecompromized patients like luekemia ,lymphoma and immune suppressive drug taking patients ,comorbid patients like COPD ,renal failure .

vaccine for women who will be more than 3 months pregnant during the flu season
patients who are from 6mo to 18 yrs udergoing asprin treatment therefore could develop reye"s syndrome

mohhaider - 10-13-08 00:13 Yes, I forgot that ,pregnant women during the flu season is also an indication for vaccination .Anyway the accination is contraindicated for those with egg allergy.
