Gynec- Pap smear
harry206 - 05-15-09 05:39
A 45-year-old female patient of yours comes to see you in the office. She is accompanied by her 14-year-old daughter. She has been your patient for the last 20 years, and you have an excellent rapport with her. Her daughter became sexually active three months ago. She is aware of the risk of cervical cancer with sexual activity, and wants you to convince her daughter to have a cervical Papanicolaou smear done. What is the most appropriate response in this setting?

Reassure the mother and tell her that you will do the Pap smear at this time...pap is done at the start of sexual activity but according to recent guidelines can be postponed till 3years of starting sexual s\activity..
