Gynec- Sexual Orientation
harry206 - 05-14-09 10:17
A 25-year-old woman comes to see you in the office for her annual visit. She has been your patient since the age of sixteen, and has had two negative Pap smears in the last five years. She started engaging in sexual activities at the age of seventeen years, and has had five different heterosexual partners in the last eight years. She confides that she has always had issues with her sexual orientation. She recently had a sexual encounter with a 20-year-old woman, and now feels that she will remain homosexual for the rest of her life. Her homosexual partner never had sexual intercourse with men. The patient asks you if it is appropriate for her to stop getting regular Pap smears now. Which of the following is the most appropriate response?
