Glomerular diseases cause hematuria with dysmorphic red cells in the urine and sometimes red cell casts. Isomorphic red cells indicate nonglomerular bleeding including that from the urinary bladder. Hypercalciuria is a common cause of hematuria
in young individuals even without renal stone formation.
