The space between plasmalemmas of adjacent epithelial cells is obliterated at the tight junction (zonula occludens), which forms by fusion of the membranes along narrow anastomosing bands.

babbu5508 - 07-28-10 04:02 tight junctions.., or zonula occludens, are the closely associated areas of two cells whose membranes join together forming a virtually impermeable barrier to fluid.
