O/E oral thrus --> start fluconazole empirically ---> If no improvement ----> ENdoscopy
On endoscopy:(Tt accordingly)
Diffuse white lesion: esophagial candidiasis
Deep small multiple lesion: HSV
Superficial large: CMV

patient not improved, next best step --> endoscopy
Diffuse white lesion: esophagial candidiasis
Deep small multiple lesion: HSV
Superficial large: CMV
Failure of anti-fungal treatment for esophagitis in HIV patients should make you highly suspect other
causative agents (aside from Candida).Giant ulcers with no virus found on biopsy suggest aphthous
ulcers, which is treated with prednisolone
