Re: HIV patient with lesion
zkadhem - 05-13-09 11:14 Harry,
This is the scenario,
The patient has reddish papular lesion. In addition it bleeds easily.
What is most likely diagnosis if the patieent has fever?
what is the most likely diagnosis if the patient doesn't have fever?

Re: HIV patient with lesion
zkadhem - 05-13-09 11:28 no...
if there is fever.....this is bacillary angiomatosis
if no fever then this is kaposi sarcoma.
Dx is by biopsy
Rx....>if bacillary angiomatosis....>Erythromycin or Doxycycline
.....> if Kaposi sarcoma......> vincristine, vinblastine or interferon

meduploader - 05-13-09 14:14 DDX: bacillary angiomatosis: with fever. Rx: macrolides
Kaposi sarcoma: no fever
most accurate test: biopsy
RX: vinblastine, vincristine, alpha interferon
