How To Apply For Observerships?

yea..in ma previous questns i forgot to ask fr the list of med colleges whr i cn apply fr extrnship rotations etc...i wil be stayin in either connecticut so cn ny1 pls suggest colleges nearby whr i can gain some firsthand clinical experience..also if this doesn work out(i e i fail to get into ny of the above mentioned) will assistin a private practitioner help?? wil tht be heplful in teachin me sumthin n preppin me fr cs

U need to apply to the various hospitals which offer observerships/externships in the US.Here is a list of them:

There u can find the state by state list of hospitals offering observerships,etc.Send e.mails to them or call them.
Assisting a private practice is still better than doing nothing.
Ye, observerships will help u understand how doctor-patient communication takes place in the US.

Observerships r usually offered for free except that u may have to pay an application fee,say of 250 USD.
The minimum duration is 2 weeks.The more u do the better.A 3 month observership can fetch u three USLORs for that specialty if u work under three different attendings.So, u shud do for 3 months.
