a- beta blocker
b- diuretic
c ACE inhibitor
d- central alpha stimulant
e- peripheral alpha blocker

yes, very high yeild, and calcium channel blockers can also be used.labetelol is the drug for acte cases, with ischaemia.

it applies to anybody and everybody who believe ACE inhibitor should be the line of treatment in a hypertensive with coronary artery disease so that, we all, who think, a beta blocker is appropriate, know the rationale behind it !!

concomitant cv disease may lead to compelling indications for specific drug classes HTN+atherosclerosis ACEI (hope nejm 2000 342 145 )
+angina beta blockers
+post mi b blockers acei ( bhat jama ave nejm hope )
+chf acei/arbs beta blockers diuretics
+diabetes mellitus although now diabetes is going to be simply called diabetes aceinhibitors
+chronic kidney disease acei/arbs nejm 1993 329 1456 2001 345 851 861 most pts with essential htn wil require 2 drugs or more to reach goal if on 2 drugs one should almost always be a thiazid etype diuretics

please be advised to read the question properly, even I used to behave this way, some time back, reading q in hurry and landing up in a wrong answer, they are asking CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE AND you are answering atherosclerosis, how can you reach a right answer.PLEASE REVIEW, no offence intented.

its a, becos beta blockers are used post MI as they are negatively ionotropic they decrease the oxygen demand of the myocardium.
