I had Step 3 yesterday
acamol2000 - 08-13-08 19:36
A question to whom who knows.
I have completed two days today.
MCQ were oK. CSS were also OK, I knew for sure all the final diagnoses and wrote them at the end. But I didn't order hemodyalisis in child with hemolytic uremic syndrome whose creatinine was 8.6 and in a seconde case (a child with VSD and congestive heart failure) I didn' order surgery.
My question is: do I fail a case if I didn't order the life saving procedure in spite of providing the correct diagnosis and if I fail two cases can I fail the whole step 3 exam?

sackatdoc - 09-25-08 13:50 i have been going thru the scoring system of STEP3, they say USMLE has not made that public as to how are they really scoring the exam, but what they have made evidently clear is the distribution of the marks allotted to the 2 sections of the exam-MCQs and CCS, MCQs get-80% of the weightage and CCS gets only 20%,so even if you have done all CCS questions wrong which is just not possible, you stand to score 80% on this exam, so in case you do decide to return and read all that i typed, you 'll get all your reasons to be happy!!!take care!
