I M Confused,Plz Help!

hi i was applying on 28 sept but now i am applying on 5 oct do u think wth the change of month it will effect my application actually i am postponing my exam bec i am not ending up wth questions have to book the date bec all dates r going and it i s said if u r in sept its good but if u r oct u will be late it will be just 7 days but do u think tht there r residency programms who have deadline of 30 sept bec i have seen residency programm who hav edeadline of 31 oct but not 3o sept

bluesea - 08-11-11 11:38 i think it better to apply 7 days late then to apply wth less score but i have heard mny time nowadays tht if u apply late like just after 30 sept ur applicatin will come down MY BIG QUESTION is can i apply wth step 1 85 and cs in first attemt and then send the step 2 score but the thing is how resisency programm will review my step 2 score when i have already submitted my application

There is nothing like that!
It is good to apply on the first day itself coz wen everyone ese is doing so then wy shud u lag behind.
Applying in late September or early October is one n the same thing in my opinion.
Yes, most programs have application deadlines in October or November n not September.
First concentrate on getting a very good score rather than on be in a hurry to apply to programs.It is not the early application which will get u into a residency program but a good score is wat will get u into a good program.

U can !
Programs will get yur Step-2CK score thro' the USMLE Transcripts which they will get thro' the ERAS.

Read only the relevant topics from Kaplan Books n remember the U World question explanations.
Do the Kaplan Q Bank and read the explanations of the questions n note them down n go thro' them again.

If you want to apply to posted jobs then check this website weekly: http://sciencecareers.sciencemag.org/
Another source for posted jobs is university employment boards.You may/may not be able to find out who the Principal Investigator is in such cases unless you do a bit of detective work. As an example, if you find a job posting saying they are looking for someone to study some aspect of Parkinson's, and want to apply to it, then before doing so through the university careers center, look through the faculty in the dept. of Neurology at that institute and check their research interests. The one who you think might be the most likely Principal Investigator for the job you saw should then receive your email stating that you are interested in the said job and why, etc., and you presume it will be with him/her, send a copy of your CV, and request that if it is not that person, could they kindly forward it to the correct person. That usually gets a response, and then you can apply through the university website too.
And please look up their work on Pubmed before you meet/have a telephone talk with them. You have to have a good knowledge of the details of your prospective research mentor's work.
