In FM u treat patients of all ages and genders ,be it children or adults ; men or women. In IM u only treat adults.
After an FM residency one can go for further training into Sports medicine,Geriatrics,Obstetrics, etc.
After an IM residency one can go for three year fellowships in sub-specialties like Gastro,Cardio,Onco, etc.
It is pertinent to mention that there is no major difference between the practices of a Family Physician and an Internist i.e. an IM doc who has not done any fellowship. Both of them usually earn the same amount.
I think it wud be still wise to rank IM at the top of yur list because FM programs will anyway rank u higher.
Good Luck!
