A 25 y.o. woman, gravida 2, para 0, with a history of 2 miscarriages presents with pain and swelling in her right leg. Au ultrasound reveals a blood clot in the right femor. vein. Otherwise she is healthy, thin, and active, has no recent trauma or prolonged immob-n. She is not taking any medicine.

PTT- slightly elev-d
bleeding time- N
HB- 14g/dL
MCV- 90
Platelets- 250,000
VDRL syphilis test- positive
HIV test - negat.
What is the most likely cause of this woman's blood clot formation?

lupus anticoagulant: usually found in persons with autoimmune diseases ,SLE is linked to an increased risk of blood clots and may be the cause of recurrent miscarriages.Symptoms

The h/o 2 miscarriages suggests dat d woman has underlying genetic disorder responsible for her bad obstetric history.....d list of disorders include Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome,protein C deficiency etc.

the patent is mostly likely to have anti-phospholipid antibody syndrome...as shown by the recurrent abortions and deep vein thrombosis
