is it true?

is it true that, even though latins get high score (more than 90 in both step 1 and 2 ck) it's difficult for them to get a residence in surgery areas, because they keep those vacancies for us citizen and americans?

TheOne - 03-27-08 17:15 Not only Latins, every IMG has a slim chance of getting into Surgery.
But it's not impossible, high scores + Clinical Experience in a respected hospital here in the US + reseach & publication + Masters or PhD degrees all can work in getting you into an excellent program.
I know it's easy to say & hard to be done but it's still possible.

radhamesramos - 03-28-08 10:51 Examples for this year: (they are about people I know)
-1 colombian candidate got a prematch position in surgery in an University hospital in New York. Credentials: both 99s, USCE, recent grad
-1 Mexican cadidate got prematched in surgery at an University program in Miami. Credentials: 87/99. USCE in the same hospital where matched
So, you see it is possible
