hello, i have passed usmle step 1 and 2 with low scores 81 & 80 respectively to add on this grave situation i failed to pass cs on first attempmt, i m really confused wheather i will be able to get any interview next year, which residency will be more easy to get for me...
plz help

1) Forget the past, you can't do anything, move on and plan everything form now on.
2) Pass Step 2 CS & Step 3 "a must now for every IMG". This is your last chance to show the programs how good you are, by getting a high score on Step 3; You should make everything possible to get that excellent score.
3) Apply for observership/externship positions, US Clinical Experience is invaluble on your resume.
4) Apply to the next year's Match on time, that's on Sep. 1st, prepare all your documents from now. Don't wait till August to do so, as you have so many things to do from now on.
5) FM, IM, Peds & Psych are good specialties to start with. Put them on your consideration as your future residency.

I know people with no better credentials than yours that got several interviews...but this is a process, a very thorough one (like thOne explained to you), almost like a science: where to apply, how to make a better CV, Observerships, LORs, choosing the rght specialty...Hopefully next year, you'll be asking us how to rank the programs

Re: is there any hope success - 04-30-08 22:43 plz advise,i passed my step 1 with just a 75(186)that too in the second attempt.on top of that i have to take my step 2 cs again.i failed due to ips.still have to take my step 2 c.k..is this the end for me?plz help!

Contacts are made when you mengle with attendings and residents during an observership or a research.
