Last Minute Scramble

I am a PGY-1 in family medicine. I am actually interested in Emergency Medicine. I want to scramble for EM residency for this coming year. I just made the decision and found out that it is too late to sign up for ERAS and NRMP. My questions are:

1. Can I use my old info last year in ERAS and NRMP to scramble through ERAS without signing up on time?
2. Can I scramble with only fax and email without ERAS info?

I believe it's too little too late now. Try to see if there would be any positions in post-scramble using electronic residency or find a resident websites.

If I use ElectronicResidency.com, I will be able to fax to those programs who accepts fax. But some programs will accept ERAS applications only. Then I will not able to apply to the ERAS only programs. Is that true?

Electronic Residencysend to all and these who consider the fax or email and they will respond if they like you. For these who want ERAS only will simply ignore your faxes o emails.

One thing you are forgetting is that the NRP list release contact list of programs and along with each program the fax and or email of both will be listed. Program that dont wish to be contacted by fax or emailed will simply not publish thier faxes and email. 90% of programs publish their emails and faxes to NRMP on scramble day.

Scramble is very well knows for faxing and emailing and ERAS is another form of contact.

4 methods to contact programs on scramble day:

1. Fax
2. Email
3. Phone
4. ERAS

The more methods you use the better your chance.

Since I did not sign up for ERAS or NRMP this year, I will not be able to access the list of unfilled programs. However, a friend of mine is scrambling and she will send me a copy of the list as soon as it becomes available, so that I can contact the programs. My plan is to sign up with ElectronicResidency.com and ask them to fax to the programs available in EM. Does ElectronicResidency.com has the unfilled list or I have to provide to them? Any other suggestions?

ElectronicResidency.com does not need you to give them the unfilled list. They do not need it. The unfilled list is required by electornic residency because they coach you on how to use it on scramble day (you said you will get it from your friend)....you use it to call the program if you want and also to send through ERAS...since you do no thave ERAS then you need it only to call the programs why Electronic Residnecy will fax and email your application to all available programs and they do not need you to send them anything.

How does ElecResidency get the unfilled list so that it can fax our docs to the programs?

Electronic Residency introduces you to all residency programs including the unfilled at 12:00pm et....they do not need access the unfilled the same way regular applicants do.
