hi guys
i need suggestions. i am img(india) passed mbbs and took a year more to complete the course but still prepared for usmle. my scores are 95/98/pass. can i still get im residency or am i no longer a good candidate for residency due to taking a year more due to multiple attempts?
do multiple attempts to pass subjects in mbbs course affect residency chances?

U passed yur USMLE with very good scores and without multiple attempts.Residency program directors r more concerened about an applicant's performance on the USMLE exams rather than about one's performance in MBBS exams. It wud be much better if both the medical school performance and USMLE exam performance r good.If the residency PDs ask u questions about yur 'not so good' medical school performance u shud give them a plausible explanation.
In conclusion,u have every chance to match into an IM residency. But, it will also depend on yur year of graduation,US clinical experience,US LORs and yur interviewing skills.
Apply to IM residency programs this year, and I hope u will get lots of interviews.
Good Luck!
