How does the number of attempts in passing the usmle steps affect the chances to get a residency?

its simply inversely related...the more the attempts,it decreases the chances of getting into residency although USCE and LOR's do matter

no one can predict the exact correlation but as the numeer of attempts go on increasinf it becomes moretough to get a spot.. though you can improve your CV with other thing

Multiple attempts on any of the USMLE steps r very damaging in these days of increased competition for residency.One can not afford multiple attempts on any of the steps.A good CV in order to be competitive for residency programs will be at least like having a score of 90 or above on the USMLE steps and Step-2CS passed on the first attempt.
