conym5 - 02-25-10 09:08 The body produces a surge of Lutenizing Hormone (LH) once a follicle has adequately matured. This surge of LH causes the follicle to burst, releasing the egg into the fallopian tube. The moment that this happens is ovulation.

LH surge causes ovulation which is the most important step in fertility regulation..and Lh surge is stimulated by HCG

it is used because hCG causes lh surge which in turn causes ovulation that helps in inducing fertility in an infertile female
