A 32 year old primigravida at 39 weeks of geatation is in the maternity ward. She has uterine contractions for the last 2h hrs. On examination cervical dilation is 6cm . Vitals are normal . uterine contractions are 3-5/min. you start her on iv fluids, 3hrs, after the observation her cervical dilation is 7cm ..next step?
1. PG application to the cervix
2.IV oxytocin

Pt is primigravida , so the speed of cervical dilation should be 1.5 cm in an hour, In this case cervix dilated only 1cm in 3hours, and contractions are normal, so Oxytocin will not be helpful.
