if geographical area is not a constraint you should go for an observers in cleveland clinic, it is a good place but you have to apply months in advance

It is better to first pass the Step-2CS on first attempt only.Afterwards, u will have a plenty of time to do observeships.Here is the link where u can find a list of hospitals offering observerships:

Thanks to all of you. I heard that one should do observership before going for cs exams? As one is not used to clinical scenario and there is lack of confidence, is it worth paying 2400 dollar for some private observership for one month? How will it be decided my clinical experience is hands on ? will they mention it on their Lors? I am being offered one day a week in pateint round on one patient in some hospital. Will it be counted as my in patient experience ? Is there any evaluation need to be done at the end of externship?

If u get some free observership then it is fine to do it to get a feel of how the hospital set-up works in the US.U will get to talk to patients,etc.That will indeed increase yur confidence.
But, paying 2400 USD a month for getting an observeship is no wisdom at all and that too for an observership at a private clinic.
Hands-on experience means that u get to take the patient histories, do physical exams and present cases to the attending physician.This is called an externship.
In an observership one usually only observes others doing all the above mentioned stuff.
Attending only patient rounds won't be counted as real clinical experience.
Ye,they will mention yur evaluations in the LORs they give u.

In my opinion, u shud try find some free observership.Moreover, even if u do an observership u still need to practice hard with a live practice partner to do well in the actual Step-2CS exam.

yeah..adonis is absolutely right...as you have time, you should probably try for some free observerships...easier to get than externships
