usmleman - 12-18-08 21:06 many ppl who are old graduates got in to residency. Be prepared with pass on all steps and if you can, try externship/ observership somewhere

mkansari - 12-18-08 22:59 if your score above 80, try that you pass step 3 ASAP...but only try when ready. Try New Jersey, Alabama, Texas, Mississippi....make sure no more than 3 tries.
if you need free questions on step 3 via email or CD...email: mkansari03@yahoo.com

meduploader - 12-25-08 10:26 I think u should find some links. Friends/ colleagues from ur med school/country and etc. and communicate with them. Via them try to meet the PDs and in this way i think u can find IVs.

Re: old gradute
winner123 - 01-14-09 05:00 it is very difficult to calculate anybody's chances for getting residency.
But, one thing is clear that one has to do everything possible to get a residency.
Generally, the universal advice is the following:
Pass all the exams step-1,2ck,cs,3.
Do an externship/observership/research/publications(anyone or all of these).
Work with private practioners .
Get nice LORs from these experiences.
Seek direct help(like a phone call)from the people under whom you work in your observerships, etc.
Tell them your problem so that they may be eager to help you.
As visa is a problem in almost all the cases, try to get an H1b visa sponsorship thro' a Research job(very diffcult).
I hope it is helpful.
Good luck.
