Well, Why don't you start that discussion through this thread??
I love to see the members proactively seeking what they want instead of asking someone else to do the discussion. So let me start by asking you what do you need to know?

i wonder how seriously they adhere to the set requirements for their program. b'coz some of my friends told i should apply to college even if one or two requirements are against my CV. this doubt is b'coz i lost 5 year after my MBBS and another 3 years passed in doing postgraduation in general surgery in home country. so totally 8 years. i meet most of the criterias of surgery programs except for this number of years after graduation. so what do u say, should i have to apply for such programs despite they seeking for recent grads.

See it simple, some of the years you "lost" were doing surgery post graduate training which is a plus, but you have to make sure that other stuff like scores, USCE, publications, Step 3, are secured, because competition is though

Not essential, but looks good in your application. Lot of IMGs friendly programs take it as essential to the application, so with Step 3 passed, you'll have more interviews

Since you're an IMG Step 3 is essentials. Just remember that you want to look flawless when you apply.

why not have step 3 in hand when you apply....that willmake your application shine.

one more reason i did not think of step3 was i dont want to spoil my CV in case if i score less in step3 as i found out results are not encouraging in step3, majority of my friends who scored more than 95 in step1 and 2 couldnot cross 85 mark in step3. my scores are 92 and 94 in step1 and 2 respectively.
may be now i have to seriously plan for step3

Really, the Step 3 is a matter of pass vs. fail, so pass it, not big deal about the score as long as it is passed, it makes your application look stronger
