Seeking participants for field trial of new assessment formats:
The National Board of Medical Examiners® (NBME®) is developing new assessment formats for use in its examination programs, including the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®), which NBME jointly owns with the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB). A field trial of these new formats is planned between June 3rd and June 15th, 2011, at the National Board of Medical Examiners, Philadelphia, PA. This trial is primarily a test of new formats but will also include standard multiple choice questions (MCQs) that resemble USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) and USMLE Step 3 in content and format. Those who anticipate taking USMLE Step 2 CK or Step 3 may find participation in this field trial useful.
The NBME is seeking about 325 eligible participants for the field trial. There is no charge for participation. Each participant who completes all sections of the field trial will receive a $150.00 honorarium and be entered into a drawing for an Apple iPad. Additionally, those participants who score in the top 25% of the total examinee group will be entered into a drawing for a $250.00 American Express gift card, with the winner's name to be posted on the NBME web site on August 1st, 2011.
Only those participants who complete all sections of the field trial will be eligible for the honorarium or drawings.
By applying to participate in this field trial, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the provisions contained in this announcement including permission to post your name on the NBME website as the winner of the American Express gift card. Those who do not wish to be bound by these provisions should not apply.
