Pediatric Case

A mother brings her 1 month old infant to the ER after suffering what apperas to be a seizure. The mother has a past history of cocaine and alcohol abuse and has subsequently used these drugs her pregnancy.

On physical exam you notice that the patient has wide set eyes, low set ears, a fish mouth, a bifid uvula as well a small chin.

What lab findings do you suspect to find?

the patient is likely having digeorge's syndrome with thymic hypoplasia ansd possible midline clefts and immunological abnormalities..

CATCH-22 to describe DiGeorge's syndrome, with the 22 to remind one the chromosomal abmormality is found on the 22 chromosome, as below:
Cardiac Abnormality (especially tetralogy of Fallot)
Abnormal facies
Thymic aplasia
Cleft palate
Hypocalcemia.
